He manages to distill complex concepts to their essence in such a way that they are easy to understand.     Dr Gabor Maté delivers easy to follow and grasp information. He is clear and concise. They 7 impacts of trauma spot on in what I have seen in my own life and see in the lives of my clients. The lost connection to self is a big one. Well they all are. But when we lose connection to our self is when we no longer trust ourself and when we no longer trust ourself we rust. When we rust, our life stops moving smoothly to the point where breaks. We give our power away to outside sources. I’m so thankful for Dr Maté and his work.

    In this 6 minute clip Dr. Mate succinctly describes the hell of my life experience these last ten years. I have found the symptoms of Complex-PTSD to be a death sentence ... many times feeling like a walking dead person. Immediately recognizing these seven impacts of trauma within myself & knowing he has much to say about HEALING trauma in other videos gives me great hope that I can find the way back to functionality ... what I am calling 'my return to Life & Living'.     This message from Gabor Maté is enlightening and certainly resonated with me. He has a unique way of looking at trauma. It made me feel the it's not just me! That what I experienced wasn't healthy but my reaction to it is a normal human reaction. Having that knowledge and understanding gives me hope that I have it in me to heal. Thanks Gabor.

    I love these 7 points and find it very helpful to see that all of us, in some capacity, deal with these impacts in various stages and sects of our lives. We all have trauma and the best we can do is identify it and discover that it is not who we are, but that trauma is a RESPONSE to the event that happened.

    I am 35 years old and both of my parents were addicts. I lot my mom when I was 17 and never knew my dad he wasn’t in my life. It is amazing to become aware of my own trauma in life and incredibly healing to realize I experienced the things I did as a child, not because of me, but because my parents too dealt with trauma, I wish they were alive for me to address and help them. Instead I will continue to heal myself and bring this awareness to others so they can heal and live fulfilled lives.

    I am three years sober and it was not until this year that I was cognizant that I am physically emotionally and mentally safe. Compounded w/ other things in addition to my trauma I still struggle with the disconnection of my body and my mind. All seven points that Dr. Gabor touches upon I experience, in my past and present life they are a struggle and a reminder that I am still affected by my trauma, however I’m never going to understand or embrace or change what I don’t know. And finally being able to have a tangible reassurance and identification of what I feel and struggle to acknowledge I’m allowed to, has been invaluable. Thank you

    Hearing these impacts for the first time, it's so powerful how much hold trauma has over a human being. Trauma effects every aspect of a human life. Keeping these 7 impacts in mind helps me view myself and others more compassionately in separating an individual from their trauma.
